Origin and history

Château du Grand Manay is a building located in the commune of Etrechy, in the Centre-Val de Loire region. Although its existence is attested, the available sources do not specify its construction period or detailed history. This monument therefore remains partially mysterious for local historians.

In the Centre-Val de Loire region, castles and manor houses have often played a central role in the social and economic organization of the territories. In Etrechy, as in many rural communes, these buildings could be used as seigneurial residences, agricultural management sites or symbols of local power. Their presence generally reflected the feudal or post-feudal structure of society, characterized by a predominantly agricultural economy and hierarchical relations between the inhabitants.
