Origin and history
The Château du Pintey, located in Libourne, New Aquitaine, is an 18th-century building originally designed as a country house. Its architecture is characterized by a central body marked by a triangular pediment, framed by two symmetrical wings. Each wing houses two rooms served by a vaulted corridor on the east side, while the commons are located perpendicular to the main building.
Ranked a Historic Monument, the castle was partially protected by decree of 28 August 1974. This decree covers the facades, the roofs, the entrance gate, an interior room with panelling and a fireplace, as well as the dovecote. These elements reflect the heritage importance of the site, both for its architecture and its interior design.
Originally, the Château du Pintey was the model of the aristocratic or bourgeois secondary residences of the eighteenth century, intended for rural stays. Its spatial organization, with distinct wings and separate commons, illustrates a desire for functionality and social representation, typical of the homes of this time in Aquitaine.
