Château du Vernay

Origin and history

Le Château du Vernay is a building located in the commune of Saint-Éloy-de-Gy, in the Centre-Val de Loire region. Although its existence is attested, the available sources do not specify its construction period or detailed history. This monument therefore remains partially mysterious for local historians.

In the Centre-Val de Loire region, castles and manor houses have often played a central role in the social and economic organisation of rural areas. In Saint-Éloy-de-Gy, as in other municipalities, these buildings could be used as seigneurial residences, agricultural management sites or defence points. Their presence generally reflected the importance of local noble or bourgeois families in structuring the territory.
