Origin and history
The church Saint-Christophe de Cussey-sur-Lison, located in the Doubs department in Burgundy-Franche-Comté, finds its origins in the 12th century, period of its first construction. This religious monument, typical of medieval architecture, has undergone subsequent changes in the 14th and 18th centuries, as evidenced by some of its interior elements. The building, in its entirety, was listed as a historic monument on 13 June 1991, recognizing its heritage value and its role in local history.
The church now belongs to the parish of Calixte II of Quingey, which is attached to the diocese of Besançon. Its furniture, partly classified as historical monuments since 1985, includes remarkable works of the eighteenth century: religious paintings (Saint-Christophe, Notre-Dame des Ermites, Saint-François Xavier), a high altar, a tabernacle, side altars, and baptismal fonts. These elements illustrate the artistic and liturgical evolution of the building over the centuries.
The location of the church, at Address 1 Impasse de la Cure, and its status as communal property underline its anchoring in local life. Although the sources mention a "passable" geographical precision (level 5/10), its inscription in the Mérimée and Clochers bases in France confirms its importance in the religious and architectural heritage of the region. No information is available on its current accessibility (visits, rentals, accommodation).
