Origin and history
The church Saint-Cyr-et-Sainte-Julitte d'Anet, located in the Eure-et-Loir department in the Centre-Val de Loire region, is a building dating back to the 12th and 13th centuries. The apse, the oldest part, belongs to this medieval period, while the nave and the lower side were rebuilt in the mid-16th century, probably at the same time as the funeral chapel of Diane de Poitiers. This architectural ensemble thus reflects centuries of stylistic and historical evolution.
The church was classified as a historic monument by order of 29 December 1960, recognizing its heritage value. It contains two remarkable paintings, classified or listed as historical monuments in 2005: The Baptism of Christ (18th century) and Saint Remy (1838), by Paul Balze. These works bear witness to the artistic and religious richness of the place, which today remains a central element of the local parish.
The building, 41 metres long and 53 metres high, is owned by the municipality of Anet. It is part of the religious landscape of the dean of the Drouais and the parish of Blessed John Paul II in Anetais. Its architecture, mixing medieval and reborn elements, makes it a representative example of the sacred heritage of the region.
Available sources, including Wikipedia and Monumentum, highlight its historical and cultural importance. The church is located at 6 Rue de l'Eglise in Anet, and its location is considered satisfactory (note of 8/10). It remains an active place of worship and a testimony to the architectural and artistic traditions of Eure-et-Loir.
