Origin and history

The church of Saint-Charles-Borromée de Bastia is a religious monument located in the city of Bastia, in the Corsican region. Although its name suggests a connection with Charles Borromée, archbishop of Milan in the 16th century, the available sources do not specify its period of construction or its detailed history. In the Corsican context, churches have often played a central role in community life, serving as places of worship, gathering and identity markers.

In Bastia, a major port city, these buildings also reflect the varied cultural and religious influences that have crossed the island over the centuries.
