Origin and history

The Saint-Martin de Soindres church, located in the Yvelines in Île-de-France, is a religious building built between the 12th, 13th and 15th centuries. It is characterized by a nave 28 meters long by 8 meters wide, ending with a three-sided polygonal bedside. The choir, vaulted, is surmounted by dogive crosses, architectural elements typical of the Gothic periods. The building has been included in the inventory of historical monuments since November 21, 1975, recognizing its heritage value and importance in the local religious landscape.

The church houses remarkable furniture, including a painting dating from the second half of the 18th century representing the Predication of Saint Martin. This painting, although after the construction of the building, shows the continuity of its liturgical use and artistic enrichment over the centuries. The church now belongs to the Southern Mantes parish group, illustrating its integration into a contemporary religious organization while preserving its medieval heritage.

From an administrative point of view, the church is the property of the municipality of Soindres, as evidenced by the data of the Merimée database. Its exact address, 6 Route de Mantes, and its Insee code (78597) place it precisely in the Yvelines department. The accuracy of its geographic location is assessed as fair (level 5/10), possibly reflecting minor uncertainties in the available coordinates. Despite this, the church remains an accessible historical and cultural landmark, although information on its openness to the public or its possible tourist vocations (visits, rentals) is not specified in the sources consulted.
