Origin and history
Vouxey Cemetery, located in the Vosges department in the Greater East region, is mainly known for its 16th century stone cross. This funerary monument, typical of Renaissance religious architecture, was classified as Historical Monuments by decree of 23 July 1909. The cross, owned by the commune, constitutes the protected element of the site, emphasizing its heritage and historical importance.
The location of the cemetery, at approximately 5091 Rue du Han, reflects an ancient settlement in the urban fabric of Vouxey. Although available sources (including Monumentum) do not detail its precise use in the 16th century, this type of cemetery was generally related to parish life and funeral practices of the time. The Lorraine region, now integrated into the East, was then marked by a rural social organization and dominant agricultural or craft activities.
The current data indicate a location accuracy considered fair (note 5/10), without further information on the accessibility of the site or its contemporary use (visits, events). The Creative Commons license associated with the monument photo suggests visual documentation available, but text sources remain limited to administrative and legal elements, such as the 1909 ranking.
