Origin and history
The Red Cross dispensary, located in Montceau-les-Mines en Saône-et-Loire, was built in the first half of the 20th century. This regionalist-style building is distinguished by its lively front-body facades covered with broken panels and terracotta decorative motifs. It was originally intended for the control of tuberculosis, which was then widespread in mining areas.
The clinic was built by the Blanzy Mining Corporation, reflecting the involvement of local industries in public health. Although modest in its dimensions, its architecture bears witness to the stylistic influences of the time, mixing functionality and aesthetics. It was listed as historic monuments on 6 September 2012, recognizing its heritage value.
Today, the clinic is owned by the municipality of Montceau-les-Mines. Only its facades and roofs are protected, as specified in the registration order. Architect Marcel Fournier is identified as the project manager, although little additional information on his career or involvement is available from the sources consulted.
