Origin and history
Le Clos Mondeville is a 15th-century residence in Crépon, Calvados department, Normandy. This manor house, built in limestone and stone, has been partially listed as historic monuments since 1927. The staircase tower, with its turret, is a remarkable architectural element, typical of the 15th and 16th centuries, and bears the date of 1560.
The manor house consists of an old stone house, with a coated facade and a staircase tower in a built-up frame. A north wing, probably built in the seventeenth century, was connected to the house by a squared body. The gate, built in 1770, marks a period of interior redevelopment. In the 19th century, a new supply was added, while some wings, visible on the 1809 cadastre, have now disappeared.
The protection of the monument specifically concerns the stair tower with its turret, inscribed by decree of 18 March 1927. The initials "M.H." engraved on a cul-de-lampe of the turret could refer to the Hue family, a fief holder in Crépon. The site, although partially modified over the centuries, retains significant architectural elements of the Norman Renaissance.
