Origin and history
The Commanderie d'Omerville is a historic monument located in the commune of Omerville, in Val-d'Oise (Department 95), in the Île-de-France region. This site, identified as a former Templar Commandery, has been listed in the Inventory of Historic Monuments since June 4, 1926. Its exact address, according to the Merimée base, is associated with the Ferme de Louvière, although its precise location remains approximate with an accuracy estimated at 6/10 (a priori satisfactory).
The Templar Commanderies, such as that of Omerville, played a central role in the medieval organization, serving as both places of worship, administrative centres and support points for orderly agricultural and military activities. In Île-de-France, a region marked by a strong seigneurial and religious presence in the Middle Ages, these settlements helped to structure the territory and regulate the lives of rural communities. Their architecture, often robust and functional, reflected their dual spiritual and practical vocation.
