Origin and history
The cross in Moustéru, in the Côtes-d'Armor (Bretagne region), dates from the 2nd quarter of the 18th century. This monument, typical of the Breton religious architecture of the period, was included in the inventory of Historical Monuments by order of 31 March 1926. Today it belongs to the public domain of the commune and is located on the municipal road 5, near the departmental road 54. Its location, noted as "passible" (level 5/10), reflects the limits of available geographic data, with an approximate address at the place called Kergoniant.
In the 18th century, the crossroads or crossroads played a central role in the life of Breton communities. They often marked places of assembly, prayer or parish boundaries. Their presence reflected the importance of the Catholic faith in everyday life, as well as the social and spiritual role of these monuments. In Moustéru, as in other villages in the region, these crosses also served as landmarks for pilgrims or travellers, in a rural context where travel was often linked to agricultural or commercial activities.
The inscription of this cross in 1926 underscores its heritage value, recognized from the early twentieth century. Available data from the Merimée database and Monumentum indicate that it is still communal property. No additional information is provided on any restorations, sponsors or specific historical events related to this monument. Its current status and accessibility (open to the public, visits) are not specified in the sources consulted.
