Origin and history

La Croix d'Antras is a historical monument located in the town of Antras, in Ariège (Occitanie). Dating from the 18th century, it is distinguished by its sober structure: a marble cross supported by a curved column, itself placed on a pedestal of polygonal shape. This type of monument, typical of village squares, often served as a religious or commemorative landmark for local communities.

The cross was listed as a Historical Monument by order of 17 April 1950, thus recognizing its heritage value. Today it is owned by the municipality of Antras. Although its exact location is approximate (accuracy noted as fair), it remains an emblematic element of local heritage, reflecting the crafts and religious practices of the modern era in Ariège.

Available sources, including Monumentum, indicate that the cross is located on the village square. Its state of conservation and accessibility are not specified, but its registration under the Historical Monuments guarantees legal protection. The region, once integrated into Midi-Pyrénées, is now part of Occitanie, an area rich in rural and religious heritage.
