Origin and history

La Croix de Lannion is a historical monument located in the municipality of Lannion, in the department of Côtes-d'Armor in Brittany. Dating from the seventeenth century, this cross is a typical example of religious monuments erected in this region at that time. It is precisely on the road from Lannion to Guingamp, an important historical axis for local exchanges.

Classified as a Historical Monument by decree of 22 December 1927, this cross is today the property of the municipality of Lannion. Crosses of this type often served as a landmark or symbol of piety for travellers and residents, while marking the influence of the Church in everyday life. Their presence also reflects the importance of roads and roads in the social and economic organization of Brittany in modern times.

The location of the Lannion Cross, although documented, is considered to be of poor accuracy (note 5/10 depending on the sources). It is mentioned at two nearby addresses: on the road from Lannion to Guingamp and at 2 Rue de Wazh Kloz. These variations can be explained by urban developments or imprecise historical surveys.
