18th century cross (not cadastralized; public domain): registration by decree of 17 February 1928

Origin and history

The cross of the Run, also called the 18th century cross of Plouha, is a historical monument located in the commune of Plouha, in the Côtes-d'Armor department in Brittany. It is precisely on the way to Kermaria, an emblematic place of local heritage. This 18th century cross illustrates the importance of religious symbols in the Breton architecture of that time.

The cross was inscribed as historical monuments by an order of 17 February 1928. This official protection underscores its heritage value and its role in local history. Today, it belongs to the commune of Plouha and remains an architectural and cultural testimony of the region.

Crosses of this type were often erected at crossroads, near churches or on pilgrimage paths. They served as spiritual landmarks and gathering points for local communities. Their presence also reflected the influence of the Church in the daily life and social organization of Brittany in the 18th century.
