Origin and history
The 18th century cross of Plourac'h is a historical monument located in the commune of Plourac'h, in the Côtes-d'Armor department, in Brittany. It is precisely at the place called Saint-Guénolé. This cross, typical of Breton religious architecture, was erected during the eighteenth century, a period marked by artistic and religious renewal in the region.
The cross was listed as historical monuments by order of 24 March 1926. This official protection reflects its heritage significance and historical value. Today, it is owned by the commune of Plourac'h and is part of the public domain, although its exact location is not cadastre.
The crosses of this type played a central role in the life of Breton communities in the 18th century. They often served as a spiritual landmark, a gathering place for religious ceremonies or processions, and sometimes marked territorial boundaries or important paths. Their presence also reflected the importance of the Christian faith in the daily lives of the inhabitants of the time.
