Origin and history

The house of Chilly-le-Vignoble, built in the early 19th century, bears the date of 1824 engraved above its entrance door. This neo-classical home is based on impressive vaulted cellars, a probable legacy of an earlier construction. Its Italian hall, decorated with a monumental staircase, leads to rooms organized by function: receptions and kitchen on the ground floor, bedrooms and a chapel on the first floor, and attic reserved for staff. A trellising shed and log complete the set, backed by the fence wall.

In 1880, landscape architect Brice Michel designed the plans of the park surrounding the residence. It is built on the terrace of the old castle of the village, which partially perpetuates the grip. The house body, its gate and the fence wall were protected by an inscription at the Historic Monuments in 2003, recognizing their heritage value.

The internal organization reflects the social uses of the era: strict separation between spaces of representation, privacy and service. The presence of a domestic chapel underlines the aristocratic or bourgeois character of the house, typical of the 19th century rural residences in Burgundy-Franche-Comté.
