Origin and history

The two houses are a monument located in Dinan, in the department of Côtes-d-Armor in Brittany. These houses, whose facades and roofs have been listed in the Historic Monuments since 1926, are located at 17 rue du Jerzual. Their location, although specified by an exact address, is assessed as having poor accuracy (note 5/10), which may indicate uncertainties about their exact delimitation in archives or in the field.

The inscription under the title of the Historical Monuments, which took place by decree on 28 October 1926, relates specifically to the exterior elements of facades and roofs. This type of partial protection is common for buildings whose heritage interest lies mainly in their architectural appearance visible from the public space. No information is available on their current use, whether they are open to the public, rental or residential functions.

Their presence in the Mérimée base, coupled with their protected status, nevertheless underlines their importance in the historical landscape of Dinan, a city known for its rich medieval and reborn heritage.
