Origin and history
Hotel de Thianges is a private hotel located in the preserved area of the city of Dijon. Built in the first half of the 17th century, it represents a typical example of bourgeois civil architecture of this period in Burgundy. Its partial inscription in historical monuments in 1972 demonstrates its historic importance, particularly for its facades and roofs on street, as well as for its staircase turret.
The building is located at 15 Rue Charrue, in the historic centre of Dijon, a city marked by a rich medieval and reborn past. At that time, Dijon was a major political and cultural centre, attracting an aristocratic and bourgeois elite who had many private hotels built. These residences reflected the social status of their owners and contributed to urban beautification.
According to available sources, the Hotel de Thianges is now owned by a private company. Although its access to the public is not clearly specified, its listing as historical monuments guarantees the protection of its most remarkable architectural elements, as defined by the 1972 Decree.
