Origin and history

The dolmen known as Pié de Mounié is a monument located in Aiguèze, in the Occitan region. This type of megalithic structure, characteristic of the Neolithic, generally served as a collective burial or place of worship for local populations. Dolmens are often associated with funeral and spiritual practices, although their exact use may vary from region to time.

In the Occitanie region, as in other parts of France, the Neolithic communities lived mainly in agriculture, livestock and gathering.
