Origin and history
The Dolmen de Kerangré is a megalithic monument located in the municipality of Erdeven, Morbihan, Brittany. This corridor dolmen, whose general plan draws a "P", is distinguished by its southeast orientation and semicircular chamber. It consists of six orthostats delimiting the room, covered with a single cover table, while the corridor, partially ruined, retains two orthostats and a slab.
The dolmen was first mentioned in 1867 by Lukis and then explored in 1877 by G. Chaplain-Duparc, although the results of this exploration are not known. It was classified as a historic monument by order of 24 September 1936, recognizing its heritage importance. This site illustrates Neolithic funeral and architectural practices in the region.
Historical sources, including the works of Félix Gaillard (1892), Philippe Gouézin (2007), and Zacharie Le Rouzic (1965), document this dolmen among the many megalithic sites on the Morbihan coast. These studies highlight its integration into a landscape rich in prehistoric remains, reflecting the human occupation and funeral rituals of the era.
