Origin and history
The estate of La Roseraie, located in Sains-en-Amienois (Somme, Hauts-de-France), is a historical monument whose main elements — house, stables, park with its rock factories (banks, cave, kiosk) — date from the 3rd quarter of the 19th century. The site has been the subject of successive protections: a first registration by order of 5 March 2020 for the house, outbuildings and park, then an extension on 9 April 2024 covering the cool cave and a tree-fault trunk, both classified with their land rights. These protections highlight the heritage value of moulded cement decorations, typical of architectural eclecticism of the time.
A flight was reported between December 14 and 25, 2025 (complaint filed on February 10, 2025 at the Neuilly-sur-Seine police station): a 1900-style cast iron statue, accompanied by its basin and three antelots, disappeared from the estate. This incident illustrates the risks incurred by movable elements of historic monuments, often targeted for their artistic value or material (bottom, ornamental stone).
The estate extends over several cadastral plots (section AE, plots 8, 18, 19, 21), with separate addresses: 10 rue de la Chaussée for the heart of the estate, and 4, 6, 10 chemin de Remiencourt for the protected extensions in 2024. GPS location is considered "passable" (note 5/10), perhaps reflecting inaccuracies in available geographic data. No information is provided on its access to the public (visits, rentals, accommodation).
The Hauts-de-France, a region where Sains-en-Amienois is located, was in the 19th century an area of industrial and agricultural dynamism, marked by the rise of bourgeois residences and landscape parks. Areas such as La Roseraie bear witness to the influence of English models (scenic gardens) and material innovation (cast cement), while serving as venues for local elites. Their present preservation responds to a challenge of memory of craftsmanship and regional social history.
