Origin and history
The Porte de Dun-sur-Auron is a mansion built in the first half of the seventeenth century for a family of notaries. This monument, which has been listed as a Historical Monument since 1926, is distinguished by its wooden gallery linking the main house to a secondary building. At each level of the corner pavilion, small cabinets were arranged, reflecting a spatial organization typical of the bourgeois mansions of the time.
In the mid-19th century, the hotel underwent major changes in its internal distribution and access. Originally, the main entrance overlooks the Grande Rue, preceded by a courtyard. This entrance was moved to Porte-Neuve Street, while a new building was erected at the site of the old courtyard. In addition, outbuildings such as a cochère door (Rue Donnin), a barn and a stable have been destroyed more recently, partially altering the original configuration.
The most remarkable element, the 17th century door, was specifically protected by a registration order in 1926. Today, the building is located at 10 rue Porte-Neuve in Dun-sur-Auron (Cher), in the Centre-Val de Loire region. Its current condition and its openness to the public (visits, rental, accommodation) are not specified in the available sources.
