Origin and history

The École du Sacré-Coeur, located at 11 avenue de la Frillière in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, is a monument built during the 4th quarter of the 19th century. This building, now classified as a Historical Monument, illustrates the school architecture of the period, marked by special attention to facades and interior elements. Its inscription in the inventory of Historical Monuments by decree of 29 December 1983 specifically concerns the main façade, the roof, the ceiling of the old meadow, as well as the iron and cast iron ramp of the interior staircase, bearing witness to the artistic and technical quality of the period.

The school owes part of its identity to Hector Guimard, a master work known for his Art Nouveau style, although this project is written in a period prior to its creative climax. The protected elements, such as the wrought iron ramp or the ceiling of the meadow, reflect a concern for the detail characteristic of Parisian bourgeois constructions of the late 19th century. The location in the 16th arrondissement, then in full urban expansion, underlines the role of these establishments in the education of Parisian elites.

The accuracy of the current location is considered "passable" (note 5/10), and the official address, confirmed by the Mérimée base, attests to its anchoring in the Parisian architectural landscape. Although the sources do not specify its contemporary use (visits, rentals, etc.), its status as a Historic Monument makes it a privileged witness to the educational and urban history of Paris. Available data from Monumentum and internal archives limit the details of his past daily life, but highlight his heritage importance.
