Wooden staircase with balusters, stairwell with doors (Box 68 81): inscription by order of 9 May 1988

Origin and history

The building at 27 rue de la Nuée-Bleue in Strasbourg dates from the 18th century. This building is distinguished by its wooden baluster staircase and stairwell, inscribed in the Historical Monuments by order of 9 May 1988. These architectural elements, typical of the time, illustrate the artisanal know-how and the Strasbourg residential style of this period.

The Rue de la Nuée-Bleue, where this building is located, is named after a 17th-century inn, Au Nuée-Bleue, formerly located at the site of the current number 29. This path, linking the Kellermann wharf to Broglie square, has undergone several denominational changes, notably during the two world wars. The building, now owned by a private company, bears witness to the urban and architectural evolution of Strasbourg.

The protections applied in 1988 specifically concern the stairwell and its doors, highlighting their heritage value. The building, although not open to the public, remains a representative example of the 18th century Alsatian civil heritage, in an area marked by the commercial and residential history of the city.
