Origin and history
The buildings at numbers 54 and 56 of Rue de Provence, in the 9th arrondissement of Paris, date from the second half of the 19th century. Their architecture reflects the Haussmannian style, typical of the urban transformations of Paris during the Second Empire. These buildings, although seemingly modest, illustrate the rapid urbanization of the capital during this period, marked by the rise of the relative buildings destined for a rising bourgeoisie.
The protection of facades and roofs on street and avenue was formalized by a decree of registration under the Historical Monuments on 30 December 1977. This heritage recognition underscores their architectural and historical value, although their exact location is considered poor (note 5/10) in geographic databases. Their presence in the Mérimée base, under the code Insee 75109, confirms their anchoring in the Parisian heritage.
No information is available about their current use (visits, rentals, etc.) or possible characters related to their history. Sources are limited to Monumentum data and internal archives, without details of architects, owners or significant events associated with these buildings. Their interest lies above all in their representation of the Haussmannian Paris, today preserved despite the lack of particular reputation.
