Origin and history
The Notre-Dame de Trouville Church is a Catholic church located in the commune of Trouville-Allierville, Seine-Maritime, Normandy region. The building, built in the 13th century, was inaugurated on 25 April 1252 by the bishop of Rouen, Eudes Rigaud. Its medieval architecture, including the choir and the baptismal fonts, bears witness to this period. The nave was changed in the 18th century, while the brick and black flint porch was added at the end of the same century. An outside brick staircase was built in the 19th century.
In 1825, the commune of Trouville merged with Allierville, whose church was destroyed in the 1960s. The Trouville building has been partially listed as a historical monument since 19 July 1926, specifically covering the bell tower and the choir. Restoration works (pavement, glazing, masonry) were carried out in 1868 by architects Martin and Marical. An isolated tomb from the High Middle Ages was also discovered north of the church, highlighting the site's seniority.
The church, built in stone, embodies local religious and architectural history. Its brick and flint porch and exterior staircase reflect the additions to its medieval construction. Today, it remains an active heritage of the municipality, open to the public under municipal responsibility.
