Origin and history

The church Saint-Barnabé de Saint-Inglevert, located in the Pas-de-Calais department, is a religious building built in the 14th century. This monument, typical of the medieval architecture of the region, is distinguished by its choir, which has been officially protected as historical monuments.

The church choir was inscribed in historical monuments by a decree dated 10 June 1926. This recognition highlights the heritage value of this part of the building, while emphasizing its importance in the local religious and architectural landscape. The church now belongs to the municipality of Saint-Inglevert, which manages and preserves it.

In the 14th century, when the church was built, the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region was marked by an intense rural and artisanal life. Churches, like St. Inglevert, played a central role in community life, serving as both a place of worship, a gathering and a symbol of local power. Their architecture often reflected the stylistic influences of the time, mixing Gothic elements and regional traditions.
