Origin and history

The Saint-Barthélémy church of Plaisance-du-Touch, listed as a Historic Monument, is distinguished by its western façade decorated with a third-point portal. The latter consists of five o-rings of ground bricks, supported by stone caps. Above, brick arches, worn by consoles, support two high defence structures connected to the bell tower extending the front wall.

The bell tower, characteristic of Toulouse architecture, is divided into two floors. The first floor has two central arched twin bays, topped by a diamond oculus at the birth of the arches. A brick cord mimics the gear teeth typical of the local bell towers. The second floor houses a Toulouse window, while two square turrets flank the whole. The facade and bell tower were inscribed by order of 23 December 1926.

The building, owned by the commune, is located Place de la Libération in Plaisance-du-Touch, Haute-Garonne. Its architecture combines defensive and religious elements, reflecting the concerns of the medieval era. Bricks and stone, the dominant materials, illustrate the local construction techniques and the influence of the Toulouse school in the Occitanie region.
