Origin and history
The church of Saint Bauzy, listed as a Historic Monument since 1938, has a composite architecture reflecting two distinct epochs. The nave, dating from the late twelfth century, bears witness to the late Romanesque style with its thick walls and its characteristic austerity. The bell tower, with a square plan and massive foothills, forms an imposing porch at the entrance. A stair turret on the left side provides access to the upper floors.
The choir and polygonal apse, built in the middle of the 16th century, introduce Renaissance elements with their brick and stone walls. This duality of materials and styles illustrates the architectural evolution between the Middle Ages and the modern era. Above the front door, two empty stone frames may have hosted a bas-relief or inscription, suggesting a more elaborate decoration originally. The building, owned by the commune, remains a remarkable example of the adaptation of rural churches to aesthetic and technical changes.
The location of the church in Bauzy in Loir-et-Cher makes it a central element of the religious heritage of the Centre-Val de Loire region. Its inscription in 1938 highlights its historical and architectural value, while guaranteeing its preservation. The GPS coordinates and the precise address (6 Route de Fontaines) allow a clear identification, although the accuracy of the location is considered very satisfactory (note 8/10).
