Church (Box AD 208): registration by decree of 25 April 1995
Origin and history
The church of Saint-Cloud de Maynal, located in the Jura, is mentioned as early as 1049, but its major reconstruction dates from the second half of the 16th century, as evidenced by the date of 1574 engraved on the tower of the bell tower. This building, of modest but characteristic style, was then equipped with two side chapels, reflecting the liturgical and community needs of the period.
At the beginning of the 19th century, between 1828 and 1838, the church underwent extensive expansion, adapting its structure to the demographic and religious changes of Maynal. These changes, combined with its registration as a Historic Monument in 1995, underline its central role in the local heritage. Today, the church belongs to the commune and remains a symbol of the religious and architectural history of the Franche-Comté.
The location of the building at 2 Rue de l'Eglise Saint-Cloud and its inscription in the general inventory (cadastre AD 208) confirm its anchoring in the urban landscape of Maynal. Although the sources do not specify its current accessibility, its protected status and its Creative Commons license for visual representations make it a subject of interest to researchers and heritage lovers.
