The two spans of the choir of the church and the chapel of Notre-Dame-de-Rhé adjoining it: inscription by decree of 26 March 1934

Origin and history

Saint-Étienne de Senoncourt Church is a Catholic religious building in the commune of Senoncourt, Haute-Saône. It is part of the local architectural heritage and was partially classified as historical monuments in 1934, especially for its two spans of the choir and the chapel Notre-Dame-de-Rhé. The protection of this monument in 1934 bears witness to its historical and architectural significance.

The churches of that time, often at the heart of the villages, served as a place of worship, community gathering and identity symbol for the inhabitants. In Burgundy-Franche-Comté, these buildings often reflect the religious and social history of small rural communities.
