Origin and history

Saint-Fiacre de Ronchères is a religious monument located in the department of Yonne, on the commune of Ronchères, near Saint-Fargeau. It is dedicated to Saint Fiacre, protector of gardeners and marketers, and is part of the Archdiocese of Sens-Auxerre. Its architecture and history span several centuries, with traces of construction or modifications in the sixteenth, seventeenth and nineteenth centuries.

The building was partially protected as historical monuments in 1984. The facades, the roofs, as well as the interior and its paintings, were registered and classified by ministerial decree. This official recognition underlines its heritage importance in the Burgundy-Franche-Comté region. The church now belongs to the municipality of Ronchères.

Although the available sources (Wikipedia, Monumentum) do not specify the details of its foundation or its possible sponsors, its inscription in the local religious landscape reflects the rural and spiritual history of this part of the Yonne. The monument is part of a Christian architectural tradition, typical of small Burgundy country churches, often linked to surrounding agricultural activities.
