Origin and history

The church of Saint John Baptist of Prechac-sur-Adour is a religious building of Romanesque architecture, built between the 11th and 12th centuries. It is characterized by a nave opening on a bedside in the Chamber, typical of this period. His large work, of Romanesque style, bears witness to medieval construction techniques, although the building suffered major destruction during the wars of Religion, which profoundly marked his history.

Classified as a Historical Monument by order of 8 December 1960, the church is today owned by the commune of Préchac-sur-Adour, in the Gers department (32), in the Occitan region. The protected elements include the entire parish church, identified under cadastral reference A 220. Despite the damage suffered, it remains an architectural and historical testimony to the religious conflicts that have shaken the region.
