Mgr Louis Rendu - Bishop of Annecy Consecrate the church in 1851.

Origin and history

Saint-Jean-Baptiste du Reposoir Church is a Catholic building located in the Haute-Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Built in 1850, it was consecrated on 17 July 1851 by Bishop Louis Rendu, then bishop of Annecy. Its initial architecture, in the form of a Greek cross, was modified after a later enlargement, adopting a Latin cross structure.

The interior of the church was restored in 2003, showing regular maintenance of this religious heritage. Although integrated in a local context marked by the presence of the Chartreuse du Reposoir, the building is distinguished by its own history, linked to the demographic and spiritual evolution of the municipality.

The monument is part of the diocese of Annecy and is one of the emblematic churches of Haute-Savoie. Its architecture and history reflect the religious and social transformations of the 19th century in this Alpine region, where the cultural buildings played a central role in community life.
