Origin and history

The church of Saint-Louis de Plan-d'Orgon is a religious monument located in the commune of Plan-d'Orgon, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. Although its name evokes a dedication to Saint Louis, king of France canonized in the thirteenth century, no precise information is available about its period of construction, its architecture or the significant events in its history. In Provencal regions, parish churches such as Plan-d'Orgon traditionally played a central role in community life.

They served not only as a place of worship but also as a gathering point for the inhabitants, often reflecting the demographic, social and religious evolution of the villages. Their presence generally reflects the importance of the Christian faith in the local organization since the Middle Ages.
