Origin and history

Saint-Martin d'Ancerville Church is a Catholic religious building located in the commune of Ancerville, Meuse department, in the Grand Est region. Its construction spans several centuries, with elements dated to the thirteenth, fifteenth, sixteenth and eighteenth centuries. This monument illustrates the architectural and artistic evolution of the region over a long period.

Classified as historical monuments in 1990 (notice PA00106457), the church houses remarkable furniture, including statues, funeral monuments, an organ and 70 benches of faithful, all protected as historical objects. These elements demonstrate its cultural and religious importance to the local community.

The interior of the church is particularly rich in statues, including a series representing the apostles, placed on the pillars of the nave. These works, as well as the architecture of the building, reflect the artistic and spiritual heritage of Lorraine, now integrated into the Great East.

The Saint-Martin church is owned by the commune of Ancerville and is one of the historical monuments listed in the Mérimée base of the Ministry of Culture. Its exact address, 22 Rue Debraux, allows to locate it precisely in the urban fabric of this small Meusian city.
