Origin and history

Saint-Martin de Cintray Church is a Catholic church located in the Eure department, in the commune of Cintray, near Breteuil. It is distinguished by its octagonal bell tower dating from the beginning of the sixteenth century, an architectural element typical of this period. The building underwent a major reconstruction in the 19th century, reflecting the stylistic evolutions and restoration needs of the period.

The bell tower, decorated with eight slate windows, is a notable example of Norman religious architecture. Inside, the church houses high-quality statues, including a 15th century Virgin with the Child, reflecting the artistic richness of the region. The bell tower arrow was classified as historic monuments on 15 June 1920, highlighting its heritage importance.

The Church of Saint Martin plays a central role in local life, both religiously and culturally. It embodies the history of Cintray and its inhabitants, while attracting visitors interested in the architectural and religious heritage of Normandy. Its maintenance and preservation are ensured by the municipality, guaranteeing its sustainability for future generations.
