Origin and history
The church Saint-Pierre de Champtocé-sur-Loire is a religious building located in the municipality of the same name, Maine-et-Loire, in the Pays de la Loire region. Built mainly in the 14th century, it was supplemented by architectural additions in the 16th century. This monument thus illustrates two distinct periods of medieval and reborn religious architecture.
The church was listed as historic monuments on October 23, 1972, recognizing its heritage value. It is now owned by the commune of Champtocé-sur-Loire. Although the sources do not specify its exact role in the local community, the churches of that time generally served as places of worship, assembly and identity marker for the inhabitants.
The location of the building, at 5 Rue de la Rome, and its inscription in the Merimée base confirm its anchoring in the architectural heritage of Angelvin. The available data do not mention any major historical events related to this monument, nor emblematic characters associated with its construction or history.
