Origin and history
The Saint Vincent de Saint-Vincent-le-Paluel church is a historic monument registered since 1946, located in the Dordogne department, in New Aquitaine. This place of worship, built between the 14th and 16th centuries, presents a Romanesque architecture marked by a flat bell tower designed to accommodate four bells. Its arched portal, finely molded, features an atypical representation of the Trinity as a man with three eyes, a rare theological symbol in the religious art of the region.
The building consists of a unique nave, accompanied by a small side chapel, reflecting a sober but characteristic structure of the rural churches of the period. The location of the church in the village of Saint Vincent-le-Paluel suggests its central role in medieval and modern community life, serving both as a place of prayer, assembly and identity marker for the local population. The available sources, including the Merimée and Monumentum base, confirm its status as communal property and its potential to open to the public, although the practical modalities (visits, events) are not specified.
The protection of the church by decree in 1946 underlines its heritage value, both for its architecture and for its unique carved elements. The accuracy of its location, assessed as "a priori satisfactory" (note 7/10), allows to identify its current location at approximate address 92 Saint Vincent-Le-Paluel, in the homonymous municipality. No information is available on any historical figures related to its construction or history, or on significant events taking place there.
