Church: registration by decree of 8 December 1954
Origin and history
The church of Saint-Christine de Ferrières-Haut-Clocher is a religious building located in the municipality of the same name, in the department of Eure, in the Normandy region. Its construction spans several centuries, with architectural traces dating from the thirteenth, sixteenth and eighteenth centuries. These successive periods reflect the stylistic evolutions and needs of the local community throughout the ages.
The monument has been listed as a Historic Monument since 1954, highlighting its heritage importance and preservation for future generations. The church, owned by the commune, is a typical example of Norman rural churches. These buildings served as a spiritual and social centre for the inhabitants, hosting not only religious services but also community gatherings.
In medieval and modern times, churches played a central role in daily life, marking the highlights of the liturgical and agricultural year. Their architecture, often modest, reflected the local resources and know-how of local artisans. The location of the church, in the heart of the village, reinforces its anchor in the historical and cultural fabric of Ferrières-Haut-Clocher.
