Origin and history
The Sainte-Noyale Church is a Catholic religious building located in the commune of Noyal-Pontivy, Morbihan department, Brittany. Built in the 15th century, it is distinguished by its Latin cross-shaped architecture, with a nave barred by a narrow transept and a square bedside. Its bell tower, crowned with bells and dated 1457, is accompanied by a polygonal turret allowing its access. The flamboyant porch features a carved tympanum, while the north gate is decorated with representations of characters.
The church houses a stand organ composed of 17 games, adding to its artistic heritage. It was built at the site of an old Romanesque chapel, showing religious continuity on this site. The building has been listed as historic monuments since 18 March 1927, by official decree, thus recognizing its heritage and architectural value.
The monument illustrates the characteristics of Breton Christian architecture of the late Middle Ages, with flamboyant Gothic elements and a structure adapted to the liturgical needs of the period. The presence of a carved porch and a bell tower precisely dated reflects the importance of this building in the local religious and cultural landscape.
