Origin and history
The Sainte-Thérèse church is a religious building built in the heart of Rueil-Malmaison, in the Hauts-de-Seine department. It is distinguished by its elongated rectangular plane, unique vessel and flat bedside, topped by a roof with long sections. Its sober architecture, typical of the religious constructions of the second half of the 20th century, met the needs of an expanding parish, carried by the commitment of the local faithful.
The history of this church began in 1959, when its construction was completed thanks to the mobilization of the inhabitants of the neighborhood. A decade later, in 1968, extensions completed the building: catechism rooms, now known as the Saint Martha Hall and Sainte-Geneviève Chapel. The parish was recently renovated in the early 2020s, reflecting the continuous vitality of the parish.
Beyond its spiritual role, the Church of St. Teresa is part of a dynamic of openness and sharing. Since 1984, his parish has maintained a twinning with that of Maria Taw, located in the Ioba region (diocese of Diébougou, Burkina Faso). A religious library, accessible to all, also strengthens its anchor in local life, combining architectural heritage and community mission.
