Origin and history

The church of Bois-de-Céné is a religious building located in the municipality of the same name, in Vendée (Pays de la Loire). This monument, whose location is approximate, has been included in the inventory of Historic Monuments since 1926. Today it belongs to the municipality and remains an emblematic place of local heritage.

The churches of this region, often built between the Middle Ages and the modern era, served as a spiritual and community centre. They housed religious gatherings, local festivals and sometimes administrative activities. Their architecture generally reflects traditions and materials available in their immediate environment, such as stone or wood.
