Origin and history

Ehrhard House is a historic monument located in the Alsatian city of Thann, in the Upper Rhine department. Built between the 16th and 17th centuries, this house is distinguished by its wood-paned architecture, typical of the region. It is located at 7 First Army Street, a central artery in the city.

Ranked a historic monument by order of April 2, 1946, Ehrhard House suffered significant damage during the Second World War, notably in 1944-1945. When it was restored, the wooden gable was reconstituted, replacing an anterior rump. This choice reflects a desire to preserve the traditional Alsatian architectural style.

Today, Ehrhard House belongs to a private company. Although its access to the public is not specified, it remains a major architectural testimony to the urban history of Thann and the Greater East region. Its listing as historic monuments underlines its heritage and cultural importance.
