Origin and history

The oak wood-barred spur is a historic monument located in Hayange, Moselle department (Great East region). This archaeological site dates back to the Iron Age and is characterized by typical defensive remains of this period, such as a ditch, a rampart of earth and a enclosure materialized by a belt road. These elements illustrate the fortification techniques used by local populations to protect and control their territory.

Filed by order of 24 December 1991, this site belongs to the commune of Hayange. Although the practical information on visits is not specified, its approximate location is indicated as close to Rue de Verdun. The barred spur bears witness to the human occupation and defensive strategies in Lorraine during the Iron Age, an era marked by the emergence of organized societies and fortified structures to ensure their security.
