Sculpted stone representing the head of a character and a three-sided shield embedded above the lintel of the gate of the farm (Box AH 488): inscription by decree of 21 April 1955

Origin and history

The farm in Arradon, Morbihan (Bretagne), is a historical monument whose most remarkable element is a carved stone. This stone, embedded above the door lintel, represents the head of a character as well as a three-sided shield. She was protected by a registration order on 21 April 1955, attesting to her heritage value.

The building is precisely at the driveway of the Château de Kéran, in a rural Breton setting. Although the exact period of construction of the farm is not mentioned, the carved stone suggests a medieval or reborn origin, typical of the noble or fortified farms of the region. These structures often played a central role in the local economy, combining agricultural activities and sometimes defensive functions.

Today, the farm belongs to a private company. Its state of conservation and accessibility to the public (visits, accommodation) are not specified in the available sources. However, the approximate GPS location and cadastral data (section AH, plot 488) allow it to be located with an accuracy considered "passible" (note 5/10).

The Morbihan, a department rich in rural heritage, has many farms and manor houses bearing witness to the agricultural and seigneurial history of Brittany. These buildings, often associated with noble families or organized peasant communities, reflect the lifestyles and social hierarchies of past times.
