Origin and history
La Ferme des Tourelles, located in Saint-Cyr-sous-Dourdan in Essonne, is a building whose origins date back to the 13th and 16th centuries. Originally built as a fortified farm, it was rebuilt at the end of the sixteenth century to become a seigneurial home. This monument illustrates the defensive rural architecture of the medieval and reborn era, typical of the countryside of France.
From the 17th century, the Farm of the Towers lost its seigneurial function to become a farm, a use which it retained until 1970. Subsequently, it will house a horse-riding centre and a restaurant, marking a transition to tourist and cultural activities. In 1961, it was used as a setting for the TV series Poly, by Cécile Aubry, which gave him a media reputation.
Partially classified as historical monuments by order of 11 July 1975 (façades and roofs), the farm is acquired by the municipality in 2005 thanks to its right of preemption. This ranking underscores its heritage importance, while its acquisition by the municipality guarantees its preservation. Today, it remains a major architectural and historical testimony of Saint-Cyr-sous-Dourdan and the Essonne.
Available sources, including Wikipedia and Monumentum, confirm its status as a historical monument and its precise location at 2 Rue de l'Eglise. Its Insee code (91546) and its membership in the Île-de-France region definitively anchor its identity in the Franciscan heritage. The farm is also referenced in the Merimée base, strengthening its historical legitimacy.
