Origin and history

La Ferme de Léomont, located in Vitrimont in the department of Meurthe-et-Moselle (Grand Est), was built in the early twentieth century. It stands on the ruins of a Benedictine priory, whose history dates back to a long earlier era. This site, marked by an altitude of 350 meters, preserves traces of a religious and agricultural past, although few material remains today.

Between August 23 and September 3, 1914, the farm was the scene of violent fighting and bombardments linked to the First World War. These destructive events left partially preserved ruins, maintained since then by Veterans' associations. The very location of the farm was classified as Historic Monument by order of 1 May 1922, in memory of these clashes.

Today, the Léomont Farm symbolizes both an agricultural heritage and a memorial to the Great War. Although the original buildings have almost completely disappeared, their location remains protected and bears witness to the troubled history of this border area. The available coordinates place the site along National Route 4, in a rural setting marked by its strategic and religious past.
