Origin and history

The Tiveaux Farm, located in Moncontour (Vienna, New Aquitaine), is an example of traditional rural habitat built mainly on land. The buildings, aligned to the southwest, date back to the 18th century for the house, shed and stables, while the barn-stable and pig iron were added around 1890. This set illustrates the evolution of farms between the Ancien Régime and the late 19th century, with construction techniques adapted to local resources.

The farm has been listed as a Historic Monument since 1994 for its buildings (cadastre 185AH 114), now owned by the commune. Its linear architecture and materials reflect the agricultural practices of Poitou, where raw land was commonly used for homes and outbuildings. The location, although not precise (level 5/10), corresponds to address 10 Rue des Tiveaux.

Available sources (Monumentum, Merimée base) mention a mixed vocation: historical farming, without details of its current use (visits, rental, etc.). Insee 86161 confirms its anchoring in the department of Vienna, formerly in Poitou-Charentes. No information is provided on any owners or key figures related to this site.
